I can't stress the advantages of
Genuine parts where available. You can expect them to fit and may
in the long run find them to be more cost effective. Where a part
is not available, clubs are your next best bet as they may re-manufacture
or recommend reliable distributors.

Pin Lock on a Series III

Latch on a 101

Recommend LH and RH Key Locks for
security. However, Pins are cheaper and retro fit straight onto
101 Locks. My locks came from a scrap dealer and Land Rover (Hartwells,
Oxford) for the barrel and keys.
I also fitted Window locks but this
requires the channel to be cut into. This to follow.
Series III anti burst locks fit in the
same way I believe. But as these were aftermarket kits for new
fangled 101s mine doesn't have them........
This shows the wiring on an ACR17-19
series Alternator as fitted to the 101, S3 etc.
The brown/yellow (closest to the wheel on a 101) wire goes to the
ignition warning light via a bulletted connector. The thick and
thin brown wires go directly to the starter motor solenoid feed.
On this picture, the Brown / Yellow (N/Y) wire is the thin one on
it's own.

How to recognise a broken 101 exhaust
manifold, probably from deep water wading or wrong fitting by the
MOD. I.E. the proper way is to do all bolts up equally and in
small increments. The MOD way probably required a hammer......
Here is a crack

And another

Oh look, another

And the mother off all cracks, bit missing here.

Hey and I thought V8s had 4 exhausts ports on each side......

And the new one, and no, it is NOT VHT paint but it has been
enamel dipped in a product used on vintage cars. It transfers
heat and reduces hot/cold cracking. Also available in fluorescent
orange and black (for engine blocks).
